How Much Does a 3D Home Tour Cost?

Updated

On WalkTortoise, a 3D home tour is priced per room scan: $7 (USD) for 1 room scan, $30 for 5 or $55 for 10, with no subscription. One token renders one room, so a 3-room home costs $21 with single scans, or one 5-pack covers it with two scans to spare, and a render that fails is not charged. Services that send an operator with dedicated 3D equipment price tours differently, because the visit and the equipment are part of what you pay for.

WalkTortoise prices per room scan

WalkTortoise sells render tokens, and one token renders one room scan: one clip or photo set of a room becomes one interactive 3D scene with its own share link, and the fly-through video is rendered from that scene. Prices are in US dollars.

  • 1 room scan: $7.
  • 5 room scans: $30, which works out at $6 per scan, about 14% less.
  • 10 room scans: $55, which works out at $5.50 per scan, about 21% less.

What the price covers

There is no subscription, and tokens do not expire. Grouping rooms into a property tour, sharing the links and making the stitched tour video use no extra tokens.

You need at least one token to start a render, but it is only charged when the 3D scene is finished, so a failed render costs nothing. Each successful render uses one token, including a room you re-record, and the exterior counts as a scan like any room.

Agencies and teams can ask about volume pricing through the contact page.

Worked example: a 3-room home

Say you want to show a living room, a kitchen and a bedroom. That is three room scans, and there are two ways to pay:

  • Three single scans at $7 each: $21.
  • One 5-pack: $30. It covers the three rooms and leaves two scans for a re-shoot, the exterior or your next listing.

When a pack pays off

Packs cost less from five rooms upward. Five single scans cost $35 against $30 for the 5-pack, and ten cost $70 against $55 for the 10-pack. For a small home you shoot once, single scans are cheaper; if you list regularly, unused scans carry over because tokens do not expire.

What drives the cost of 3D tours in general

Across the market, the price of a 3D home tour mostly reflects three things:

  • Equipment. Dedicated 3D cameras, LiDAR scanners and tripods have to be bought or rented, and that cost is built into the price.
  • An operator's visit. Someone travels to the property, sets up, captures each room and processes the result, so time on site and travel add up, especially for larger homes.
  • Hosting. A tour has to stay online for buyers to view it, and some services charge an ongoing plan for that.

Where WalkTortoise differs

WalkTortoise removes the equipment and the visit: you film each room yourself on your phone, with on-screen guidance, and pay only for the rooms you render. The cost follows the number of rooms, not travel or hardware. It does not produce floor plans or measurements, so if you need those, a measured scan is still the right tool.

Common questions

Is there a monthly subscription?
No. You buy tokens when you need them, one per room scan, and they do not expire.
Do I pay for a scan that fails?
No. A token is charged only when the 3D scene finishes successfully. You do need at least one token in your balance to start a render.
Does a whole-property tour cost more than its rooms?
No. You pay per room scan. Creating the tour, sharing it and making the stitched tour video use no extra tokens.
Can agencies get volume pricing?
Teams and brokerages can contact WalkTortoise about volume pricing through the contact page.
